LAE Wellness

La Academia de Estrellas (LAE) is dedicated to fostering a safe, nurturing, and healthy environment for its entire community. The school’s comprehensive approach emphasizes nutrition, physical activity, and holistic health.

Prioritizing Community Wellness

Nutrition Standards: LAE participates in federal child nutrition programs, providing healthy breakfast and lunch options that meet strict federal guidelines to reduce childhood obesity and promote long-term health.

Physical Activity: The school requires elementary students to engage in at least 135 minutes of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity per week, with daily recess mandated as a core part of the schedule.

Integrated Education: Wellness is woven into the curriculum through the CATCH (Coordinated Approach To Child Health) program, which delivers sequential health and nutrition instruction from kindergarten through 8th grade.

Mental Health Support: Dedicated campus counselors are available to support student social-emotional development and address emotional distress through a formal referral process.

Staff Well-being: LAE promotes a healthy work culture by organizing staff movement clubs (e.g., walking or running) and intramural sports teams, encouraging adult stakeholders to stay active in a fun, social setting.
